Using the semi-finished pruducts left by the Germans in Schichau plants in Elblag  and on the basis of the German documentation; in 1946 at the Hipolit Cegielski Manufacturing Company in Poznań began the assembly of steam locomotives designated as Ty43 series. They corresponded to a reinforced construction of war steam locomotive of German 42 series designed in 1943. To 1949 126 locomotives  of Ty43 series were built;  the recipient of 124 of them were the Polish State Railways and the other two were manufactured for the coal industry. More than a dozen of those units began its service at Wrocław District State Railways Management (DOKP Wrocław), but soon, along with the other locomotives they were transferred to the area of  Lublin, Poznań and Szczecin District State Railways Managements. In the early 50's Ty3 series steam locomotives and units used so far by the coal industry  were included to the Ty43  series . The end of exploitation of those typically freight locomotives, which at the declining  period by necessity were used also in passengers traffic , took place at the beginning of the 90's.  The Ty43-17 locomotive exhibited at Stacja Muzeum ended its  service in Sędziszów and was deleted from the Polish State Railways inventory  on 02 July 1982.
