The exhibit is a representative of DRG (Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft) German railways standardized express steam locomotives of 03 series, manufacture of which between 1930-1937 (in number of 298 copies) was undertaken apart from the BMAG, also by the following companies: Lokomotiv Borsig-Werke GmbH (Berlin-Hennigsdorf), Friedrich Krupp AG Lokomotivfabrik (Essen) and Henschel & Sohn (Kassel). Locomotives were assigned to service on the routes where permitted axle load limit on the surface is 18 t. Between 1945-46 the Polish State Railways took over 35 of such machines, which during their service stationed in the following locomotive sheds: Osobowa Poznań, Bydgoszcz Główna, Iława, Toruń and Olsztyn. Pm2 locomotives played an important role in handling express traffic and were remembered by the traction staff as a very slick construction. The exploitation of the series was ended in 1978. Pm2-34 locomotive (designation DRG 03 273) after the removal from the Polish State Railways inventory on 22 November 1978 has been carefully renovated at the initiative of Bydgoszcz Główna locomotive shed employees. The locomotive was exhibited in the area of Bydgoszcz Główna station until 1995.
